This poem captures the essence of pure and simple love as much as any words I have ever read.
I wanted to share it with you.
i carry your heart with me
by E.E.Cummings
i carry your heart with me
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go, my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)

Oh, Fran! I love this poem. E E Cummings is superb. Thanks so much for reminding me of this – it has been a while since I read my book of poetry.
Vidya….I’m so glad you enjoyed. Reading this poem has motivated to read some of his other works. It is pure joy. xxoo-Fran
I love this poem! I’ve loved e.e. cummings since I was a child. I always loved that punctuation was optional with him. We were taught as child to always use punctuation!! So I was fascinated. What strikes me is that it can be for anyone, child, spouse or a secret love.
Thanks for sharing, Fran!!
Betsy…I also have not only loved the poems but also his ‘breaking the rules’ of grammar that we were taught. Because of this, I think of him as a playful, child like artist. Although I don’t think he meant it to be, he has differentiated himself from other artists because of his not using what is considered to be the correct way of doing it. All you have to is glance at the poem without reading it….and you know it’s E.E.Cummings. 🙂
Thankyou Fran
be good to yourself
David
