In my last post, I listed Richard Feynman’s 9 elements of creativity. A lot of you wrote telling me that you don’t know who he is. That’s about to change.
Richard Feynman was a Nobel Prize winner and physicist who made brilliant contributions to quantum electronicdynamics (QED). He was irreverent and unorthodox in both his life and work. He often came up with approaches considered bizarre by his colleagues and refused to abide by what he considered to be useless society norms.
Feynman’s charismatic personality and ability to use everyday language has turned millions of non-scientists onto the mystery and beauty of physics.
This is a MUST SEE VIDEO….Richard Feynman in his own words about curiosity.
Beautiful video and Richard Feynman’s narration is phenomenal! I loved the patterns that show up in many of the different part of nature. I love inspirational videos! Thanks for sharing this one!
Hi Betsy…
I’m a big sucker for inspirational videos. Nature is the foundation of everything…..am glad you liked it.:) Fran
I LOVE listening to people like this. We think of scientists as dull and boring and yet people like this put the wonder back into everything. After watching movies like What the Bleep Do We Know and videos like this, I’ve come to love listening to quantum physicists. They certainly enlighten our curiosity and make us question the most basic of assumptions.
Thank you so much for exposing me to this Fran!
Paige,
Imagine having Richard Feynman as a science teacher in 6th grade? Imagine how your relationship with science might have been different. I didn’t get turned on to science until I was in college and took a genetics lecture class (with over 100 kids). I had been exposed to the subject of genetics before but something about the way this professor taught had me falling in love with it…even when teaching from a podium.
Physics? I never got it in high school. But now there are some terrific books that make it exciting and the one and only Richard Feynman that makes you want to look at everything differently. 🙂 Fran
Hi Fran,
“Useless society norms.” I see too many of these myself. I never heard of Richard Feynman either but his thinking resonates with my own.
Justin…
Join the crowd. It sounds like you’ve figured a lot of things out. Richard Feynman is not a household name but for those of us who know and revere him….what can I say?? You might want to check out some of his books and a book written about him on Amazon. He’s a gem. Fran
Fran:
Really cool video. I loved it and thought what he shared was so profound. We really are all looking for answers and our curiosity is going to always keep us searching. What a great video. Thanks for sharing it.
Sibyl…
Am glad you liked it. There are several others of his on You Tube that I treat myself to when I have a break. Fran
Oh Fran, this made my heart sing! Thanks for sharing this video and the work of Richard Feynman. I have no doubt that physics and mathematics will prove all of the things we “know” about the Universe and how it works. Also, if physics had been like this when I was in school, things may have turned out very, very differently… LOL.
Huge hugs!
Melody
Melody…
I’m so glad that the video made your heart sing.
I couldn’t agree with you more about the physics/mathematics/spirituality all being interwoven.
Another way of looking at ‘how things might have turned out very, very differently’ if physics has been taught in a compelling way while you were in school…..you might have not turned out to be where you are today…which is a pretty awesome place!! XXOO-Fran
Enjoyed the video immensely – fantastic content and his excitement is so palpable…so catching! Thanks for sharing, Fran.
Hi Corrine,
Thanks for stopping by. You’re right on about Feynman’s excitement being palpable. He could be saying the same thing but without passion, his message wouldfall on deaf ears. Fran
Fran,
This is amazing. I appreciate the introduction and am always open to looking at things differently.
Tess…
Am glad you enjoyed!
Hi Fran,
What a great video. Richard Feynman is sharing something amazing and inspiring. We really are all continuing to seek solutions. Our curiosity will keep us asking those ever important questions. Captivating video! Thank you for the inspiring post.
Cathy….
Am so glad you liked it. Cathy…one of the things (among many) that makes you special is that YOUR CURIOSITY keeps you asking those ever important questions.
The majority of people aren’t curious….that’s why you’re needed…to inspire and motivate people to become your curious, question, and take action.:) Fran
Great video. Thank you so much for educating us about this remarkable person!
Galen…I think that Richard Feynman did the educating. I just was the intermediary…LOL….am glad you enjoyed 🙂 Fran
I love the Feynman discussion! He is one of my all time favorite thinkers. So great, the way you dealt with him here. The passion comes through in everything he does.

I couldn’t agree more about Richard Feynman. I love your sentence ‘The passion comes through in everything he does.’
Thanks for chiming in 🙂 Fran
I am unsure how I ended up hear but it was a really good stop on the journey of life and the video was great. Thanks for sharing this and spreading light out into the world.
Hi Joseph…
I’m glad that you felt compelled to view the Feynman video. I could go on and on about him….but enough said.
I visited your blog and was not surprised that you received you Ph.D. from California Institute of Integral Studies. Ken Wilbur’s influence is showing through in your manifesto (which is pretty awesome).
I was exposed to him when I studied at One Spirit Interfaith Seminary where I became an Ordained Interfaith Minister. Several teachers were heavily influenced by his philosophy and the incredible work he is doing to help transform this planet into a place of love, light, and ‘oneness’. Fran
