Interview With Angela Artemis, author of The Intuition Principle
1. When was the first time you realized there was something unusual about you?
I was nine years old when I realized I was “different.” I was outside playing with friends when one mentioned that the father of a neighboring kid had passed away. I immediately responded that he had died of “liver disease.” I heard this sentence in my mind very loudly and distinctly and just repeated it. The words sprang to mind out of the blue as if they had been “placed” there.
Later that day I heard my mother telling my father that this neighbor had died. I immediately repeated that he had died of “liver disease.” My mother asked rather angrily, “Who told you that?” (I understand now, as an adult, that Mr. X’s liver disease was caused by alcoholism; something people rarely spoke of then. At the age of nine I had no idea what liver disease even was or what could have caused it.)
I replied that I just “knew.” She kept asking me how I knew and who had told me and I kept saying that no one had told me and that I just “knew it.” I could sense her frustration and doubt but, I refused to change my story because it was the truth.
That was the first time I realized that I might be different and that it might not be “safe” for me to say everything that I heard in my mind.
2. A lot of individuals think intuition is a talent…you either have it or not. Do you think that we all have the ability to develop it?
Yes, absolutely! Everyone is intuitive although they may not be aware of it. Intuition is a cognitive process and a form of sensing information from the world around us. When your brain searches for the answers in a long forgotten memory bank and then thrusts it into your awareness, this is an intuitive process. The information appears “spontaneously” which is why we define intuition as “awareness of information without any conscious effort on our part.”
3. What are the benefits of being intuitive?
What are the benefits of seeing or hearing? What are the benefits of touch, taste and smell? Intuition is a natural process of conveying information about your environment to you. When you are in touch with your intuition you are working with all your faculties not just five.
4. What are some of the ways that we can experience intuition?
When you are intuitive you may hear a voice that stands out over your thoughts in your mind telling you not to trust someone or not to do something. You may feel sickened or nauseated when you are around someone that you should be wary of. You may feel reluctant or hesitant to go forward with some initiative. All of these reactions are a form of intuitive sensing. They are beneficial because they “inform” you in addition to your five senses, of information that is vital for you to know.
5. When we’re intuitive can we tell what is going to happen to us in the future?
No. Intuition has nothing to do with “fortune telling.” This is a classic misunderstanding of what intuition is. Intuition is your own “inner guidance.” It is that small voice you hear from within telling you “don’t walk over there” or “don’t trust this person.”
It can also be when you get a strong sense that someone is lying or when you are struck with a brilliant idea from out of the blue that inspires you or that is the answer to a problem you’ve been grappling with. I’m sure you’ve experienced all of these things in your life time. We all have it. Intuition is just another way our mind works below the surface of our awareness.
6. What is the “Intuition Principle?”
The Intuition Principle is a concept that within you exists an innate technology, your intuition, capable of both guiding you to and attracting to you the life and happiness you’ve always dreamed of.” P. 10 “The Intuition Principle.”
By listening to your intuition you are guided to follow the right path in your life. The right path in life is the one you are most passionate about and excited about following. It is the path that best utilizes your gifts and abilities and feels effortless to you. Being on the right path leads to opportunities that open doors to your success. The joyous feeling you get from doing something that your soul craves is the mechanism that attracts more opportunity into your life along this path. “The Intuition Principle” is a guidebook for learning to navigate your life by intuition directly to the most joyous path for your life.
7. What are the best ways to develop our intuition?
The best way to develop your intuition is to “listen.” Create the intention that you wish to hear this inner guidance. In order to hear it you will need a relatively calm mind. Intuition is often a “whisper” that passes through the mind very quickly. This is why I’m such an advocate of meditation. Learning to calm the mind and slow down the constant internal chatter allows you to hear your intuition more readily. As I stated earlier, you can even take walks if you find that calming. Many people hear their intuitive voice when they are gardening, washing dishes, driving, or taking a shower.
Intuition is a very natural process. It is very subtle so don’t expect to hear any booming voice directing you to do this or that or to see a burning bush. Your intuition is your own internal voice. If you can recall a time when you did something and at the moment you did it you heard a little voice inside saying, “I shouldn’t have done that!” You heard your intuition.
8. What happens when we don’t get the results we expect even after following our intuition?
It means you are focusing too much on the results and not on the present moment and the joy of doing something you love. If you truly feel with every fiber of your being that your intuition directed you to take that route, and that you love what you are doing then, just keep doing it for the love it. Don’t focus on the outcome. Focus on the joy and what a privilege it is to get to do what you’re doing.
Focusing solely on the result will block your intuition. You become attached to the outcome and are no longer open to any other path that you might be directed towards by your intuition. Your intuition might be trying to get through but, you won’t hear because you’re not open to it.
It’s the same blockage that keeps us from hearing our intuition. When we focus solely on the destination and not on the journey, we miss many opportunities along the path because we are so doggedly determined to get to the end that we develop tunnel vision.
The ego says, “I have to be a success! I have to make this much money or I’m not successful!”
Intuition says, “I love this time in my life. It feels good. I am at peace and in love with my life when I do this.” Intuition has to do with feeling aligned with your purpose and destiny – focus on how you feel. Intuition is not magical – it simply points you in the right direction where you can best actualize all your gifts and talents. If you are on the right path, material success will follow in its own time.
9. What message do you want readers to take away from reading The Intuition Principle?
Learn to develop your intuition and to listen to it so that you will “know” whether you are on the right path or not. Never give your power away to others by ignoring your intuition. If you feel that something is wrong, or you have a nagging suspicion that you ought to do something or feel reluctance toward doing something you must honor these feelings. This is your intuition trying to guide you toward what is right for you.
Your intuition can lead you directly to what you were meant to do in this life. When you are unhappy about a circumstance in your life, think back – and you’ll probably recall that you ignored this nagging voice that wanted you to do something else. Always listen to your inner wisdom.
Once you are aligned with your true purpose, your path will become completely
clear and your life will flow easily and effortlessly. Learning to trust and follow “The Intuition Principle” will turn your life around from just getting through each day to living the exciting life of your dreams.

Well, first of all, don’t pick me…. I couldn’t wait, I just went ahead and bought the book LOL. I am very intuitive and the hardest thing for me is differentiating between impulse and intuition. It’s hard for me to articulate how they are different. Intuition is more a feeling. Impulse is more an idea. When I get a feeling about something and ignore it, I always regret it, wishing I had “listened” to my inner voice. I wish that inner voice would stop whispering and start whacking upside the head (so I wouldn’t ignore it). Maybe this book will help me learn how to listen better… that’s my hope, anyway!
Hi Cathy,
I’m overjoyed to hear that you couldn’t wait and purchased the book. Thank you so much!
You will definitely learn many ways to differentiate your intuition from your other thoughts in the book Cathy. It might not “whack you on the head” but, you’ll definitely amplify your inner voice if you do the exercises in the book.
Good luck and let me know how you improved after reading it.
All my best,
Angela
Truth be told, I got a tad carried away and bought all three of your recent books on intuition and I decided to read them in the order that you wrote them. I’ll post again when I finish them. So far, I don’t want to put them down….. but alas, my Kindle needed to be recharged LOL.It’s given me an excellent excuse to relax and read. 😉
Hi Fran and Angela,
What a great interview. Angela has written an amazing book, that one can refer back to often. The book has helped me begin to really tune into my intuition, but more importantly, to listen to it. Thanks for sharing!
Cathy….I couldn’t agree more. Talk about someone whose writing just flows..:) Fran
Dear Fran,
Thank you so much!
And, thank you again for sharing this wonderful space with me.
Angela….it is with pleasure. Besides your friendship, you have given me so much….your sacred thoughts, words, and meditations. What can I say except that I think you’re the best! xxxoo..Fran
Cathy,
Thank you so much for your very kind words about the book.
I’m so glad it helped you to become more aware and in tune with your intuition. This is what I hoped the book would do!
I’m overjoyed.
Angela
I’ve had some instances that stick in my memory. When I was in college, I had a job at a department store’s customer service office. One day I called in sick. On that day I remember thinking about the layout of the customer service area and how it would be best if a certain desk was placed differently. When I went back to the store the desk was precisely as I had visualized it. Just last week, something similar happened. I’m now working in a 29 story building. The bottom couple floors are shopping areas. Sometimes I would see vendors set up tables in a certain area. I guess they rent the spot for a few hours on different days. I thought of a spot that in my opinion would be better for this. The very next day someone had set up there and they were selling jewelry. I’ve been working with this woman for a couple of months and I think we both have good intuition. We finish each others sentences often! You’d think we’ve known each other all our lives.
Hi Griselle,
You certainly are very intuitive!
This is exactly how we experience our intuition. We pick things up and they are filtered through our consciousness in a very subtle way. When we train ourselves to be aware of them – we start remembering these instances and they also increase in number.
You sound ready to begin using your intuition to get answers to specific questions you have about your life. When you use your intuition in this way it becomes a really useful tool.
All my best to you,
Angela
Comparing our intuition with taste or smell is a powerful thought that’s new to me. I ready Cathy’s response that she wanted to be whacked aside the head by her intuition. My first thought was me too. Then I quickly felt…I’m not sure if I’m ready for that. Would you say that’s fear of my intuition or what?
Hi Tess,
Intuition is another way of sensing information about our environment. It draws on all our other senses. For example you might get an unpleasant metal taste in your mouth when you are with someone who is having chemotherapy (this has happened to me) because you are picking up on what they are experiencing.
Intuition is very subtle. Once in a great while, like say in a life or death situation, your intuition will be scream out at you. I was once about to cross the street when I heard, “Watch out!” but, there was no one at the corner but me. It was my inner voice. This is as close to getting whacked on the side of the head as I have ever come.
There is nothing to be afraid of. Your intuition is a heightened sense of awareness that is there to protect and guide you – not “whack you on the head.” Life does a good job of that without needing your intuition to do it!
All my best,
Angela
Angela’s book looks fabulous! There have been times in my life when I’ve felt that strong sense of intuition but it would be great to be much more closely connected.
I’ve recently begun meditating daily which I love so the added benefit in being much more in tune with my intuition is fantastic!
Thanks Fran for this great interview
Hi Claire,
I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to be closely in touch with your intuition.
Connecting to intuition gives you such a sense of confidence and empowerment because you “know” that you have a life line to all the answers within.
After a while what happens is that you become “fearless.” When you’re fearless you go after all you dreams. Fortunate coincidences begin occurring that assist you in accomplishing your goals. When fortunate coincidences start popping up over and over you begin living an “intuitively inspired life” where your life just flows so elegantly toward all your desires.
Following your intuition will change your life – really!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the interview. It’s great meeting you.
All my best,
Angela

I really enjoyed speaking with you.
I’m loving the comments from your readers too!

Wonderful interview Fran. I’m always amazed at Angela’s fantastic responses to such interesting questions. She’s taught me to be more respectful of my intuition and recognize it as a partner in leading a successful life.
Angela’s book truly took my understanding of intuition to a new level. It’s so well worth it’s place next to my bedside as one of the few things I want to look at before I go to sleep! Thank you both.

I always love learning more about one of my favorite bloggers. I’ve read (and reviewed) Angela’s book. It’s terrific.
Hope you had a Happy 4th of July Galen,
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!
Wow! Such insight…it could be a blessing or a burden knowing you have developed this heightened sense of awareness and intuition. I wonder what advice mutual friends may have received?! I have always been a great follower of Wayne Dyer and others in the related fields of awareness, intention, and being in the moment with gratitude, kindness and forgiveness…easily and provocatively presented and accepted but too often I slip back into anxious periods. Moving quickly through each day without taking in the beauty and love that’s always around us.
I very much enjoyed your intro and will order your book…perhaps a signed copy would be in order!
