Two of my favorite sedums are groundcovers. ‘Rosy Carpet’ forms a beautiful mat of rounded blue green leaves with petite rose colored flowers just above the foliage. In sunny climates or at high elevations,‘Rosy Carpet’ needs part shade.
Sedum makinoi ‘Ogon’ has yellow foliage that will lighten up an area that gets dappled shade. It consists of flat round leaves up to four inches high and parallel to the ground. The beauty of this plant is that spreads about 10 inches a year. It needs to be planted in shade or partial shade in hot areas. Plant it with any silver leaved foliage or variegated plant and it will be a knock out.
